About the Artist
Rebecca Woodland first picked up a paintbrush in 2022 on the Greek isle of Spetses, where she fell in love with painting. She then enrolled in the Milan Mastery Program of the Milan Art Institute and embarked on a life-changing journey with the goal of recognizing, embracing, expressing and sharing the beauty in the world. As her ocular vision diminishes, Rebecca’s inner vision has become more vibrant and expressive.
Her background as an educator, culinary artist, flower arranger, scuba diver, author, dual citizen and world traveler provides Rebecca with a unique perspective and variety which are depicted in her art.
Rebecca's art reflects her love of nature, especially sea and sky. For over fifty years she has lived on islands in Canada, Greece, and Hawaii. Rebecca resides with her husband in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Message from the Artist
I am an "accidental artist." I never intended to become a professional artist, I just wanted to learn to see the beauty in the world and express it in tangible ways. For me, painting is therapeutic, a meditative process that is yielding visible results.
My message to you: It is never too late to start something new! My art journey began after I surpassed retirement age. My art "studio" space is approximately one cubic meter ~ one end of the dining table and the space under this. (My husband's "office" is the other end of the table.) Do not let limitations (time, space, finances, health, age, skill, or anything else) keep you from exploring your passions, expanding your horizons, and expressing your creativity. Do not succumb to the belief that you are not talented! No one is born talented. With good instruction and consistent practice you will discover skills you never knew you had. (This is what most people perceive as "talent.") You were born to be creative!
